Maryam Sadeghzadeh
Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Maryam. As a counselling psychology graduate, I bring not only professional training but also personal lived experience to my work. Having immigrated to Canada, I understand firsthand the emotional, cultural, and identity challenges that come with transitions and starting over. My goal is to create a compassionate, inclusive space where your story is valued, your emotions are honoured, and your voice truly matters. Together, we will work at a pace that feels safe, empowering, and meaningful for you.
I am currently pursuing designation as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia and working toward becoming a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Every person’s story is unique — so I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. I work from a strength-based, collaborative lens, believing that your own inner resources are powerful tools for healing and growth. In our work together, we will build on those strengths to help you feel more grounded, confident, and empowered both inside and outside of therapy.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Solution-Focused Therapy
Narrative Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Family Counselling
-
I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and life stages. Some of the areas I support clients with include:

(including childhood trauma and sexual abuse)Relationship Conflicts & Communication
Self-Confidence
Family & Parenting Dynamics
Life Transitions & Adjustment Challenges
Immigration & Cultural Adaptation
I have particular experience supporting immigrants and newcomers as they navigate the complexities of starting over in a new country, blending my professional knowledge with personal understanding of cultural shifts, loss, and growth.

Building mutual understanding and trust between the counsellor and the client is an important part of the counselling process.
Typically, individual counselling runs for at least 6–8 sessions, meeting once a week or every other week. Some clients choose to attend monthly sessions or schedule counselling on an as-needed basis. -
My counsellor’s professional certification is currently in the final stages of review for insurance eligibility. While this process is ongoing, insurance claims can’t be made yet. To support clients during this time, we keep our counselling fees as reasonable and accessible as possible.
